Like a lot of you I am a concerned citizen trying to do right by my conscience and hold to my conservative principles. At the heart of my conservatism is a strong foundation in federalism. Federalism prevents disunion from a tyrannical majority or a litigious minority. People at the lowest levels can decide upon an issue given their own special circumstances and considerations.

Spent 20 years in the Navy, retiring in 1978 as a Chief Petty Officer. I traveled to many counties, living in Japan, spent time in the Philippines, Thailand, Okinawa, and South Korea. I served in a classified capacity in Vietnam in 1969-1970, managing to come home with most parts still in working order. I managed communication centers on ships and at shore installations, was trained as a drug educational expert, did some counseling, gave speeches, and learned to bowl well enough to turn professional. I retired in 1978.

Lived in California, Texas, and came to rest in Arizona. I ran for and was elected as a legislative district chairman in Arizona, and gave numerous speeches to other districts, high schools, and groups from Tucson to Prescott, Arizona. I began writing articles, some of which were published, and wrote numerous op-ed letters, many of which were also published. I’ve come to know many of Arizona’s political leaders.

Since I'm quite noisy and opinionated, you can see my postings on my own web site, http://realfreeamerica.com and the ACP’s web site, http://www.maricopaconservatives.come.

My wife and I have five children, 14 grandchildren, and one great grandchild. Nothing like a tribe of this size to confirm that I am indeed getting old !

Butch Porter

Butch Porter

A native Louisianian who has decided on the Commonwealth of Virginia as his place to raise a family. His faith, his upbringing, and his experience has defined him politically as an Independent Conservative.
His number one goal is to educate the voting populace to the realities that the source of most of our problems is an overactive and misguided Government. Above all, the principles of Sovereignty, Opportunity, and Responsibility guide his political thinking.

In 1977 I joined the Air Force, voted for Reagan, jumped off the GOP haywagon in 2005 and helped to get this Party started in 2008. Get living, or get dying - this is our responsibility to put this country back on track.
